Installation

Requires macOS 26, on Apple silicon or Intel.

  1. Download the disk image from beaver.verfüg.bar.
  2. Open it and drag Beaver to Applications.
  3. Start Beaver and add your accounts.

Beaver updates itself: new releases are offered in the app as they come out.

Accounts

GitHub and GitHub Enterprise, GitLab.com and self-managed GitLab, Forgejo, Vikunja and Jira Cloud, Server or Data Center, plus local tasks that stay on your Mac.

Tasks live in a local database, so you can browse, edit and create them offline. Changes queue up and sync in order as soon as the server is reachable.

Working with tasks

  • Smart lists: Next for your plan, Starred, Updated for what changed since you last looked, and Timing for everything you tracked.
  • Time tracking: a timer per task and in the menu bar. Smart Pause stops counting when you walk away, Smart Sleep when the Mac sleeps.
  • Quick Create: press ⌃⇧Space in any app for a Spotlight-style panel. ↩ creates the task, ⌘↩ creates it and starts the timer.

Agents

Hand a task to Claude Code, Cowork or GitHub Copilot with ⇧⌘O, or let agents list, update and comment on tasks through Beaver’s local MCP server.
